The SONAGED plans to install a semi-manual sorting unit that will create numerous local jobs. The waste received at the Ecopark will be carefully sorted to be redirected to their final destination: traditional material recycling streams for recyclable waste (PET, cardboard, metals, glass, etc.), or to the electricity production plant for residual waste valorized as fuel. The project developers did an extended waste characterization for future recycling activities and for better understanding of the waste feed supply to the CIVD (site).
The recycling process typically involves the following steps:
Pre-collection of waste on the outskirt of Touba;
Collection – Once the waste is sorted, it is collected and transported to recycling facilities (PNR).
Sorting – At the recycling facilities, the materials are further sorted and separated by type.
Cleaning – The materials are cleaned to remove contaminants such as food residue, dirt, and other impurities.
Traitement – Les matériaux sont traités pour être décomposés en petits morceaux, comme des copeaux, des flocons ou des granulés.
Processing – The materials are processed to break them down into smaller pieces, such as chips, flakes, or pellets.
Manufacturing – The processed materials are then used to manufacture new products or materials.
By following the principles of waste sorting and recycling, we can help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, preserve natural resources, and lessen our environmental impact.
